The majority of Missouri's medical marijuana businesses recently have been granted extensions after failing to meet a one-year operating deadline, according to state authorities at the Department of Health and Senior Services.

Hotels, Airbnbs and other lodging facilities in Missouri would be allowed to let medical marijuana patients consume cannabis on their properties under a recently filed bill. Theoretically, if this bill is approved, it could promote tourism in the state, as it specifically allows hotels and other facilities to accept out-of-state medical cannabis certifications for guests.

Prairie Village, a city in the Kansas City metropolitan area, is considering decriminalizing marijuana. Although the city is in Kansas, it shares a border with Missouri. Folks on the other side of the state line already enjoy decriminalized status and also benefit from medical marijuana.

Dispensary staff who interact with patients, including budtenders, are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine according to recent statements by the Department of Health and Senior Services.

Missouri legislators may continue to investigate the allegations of corruption and scandal in the medical marijuana business licensing process during the upcoming session. Rep. Jered Taylor, who sat on the committee last year, says the investigation left many questions unanswered.
